Changing the CUCM outside line access code from 9 to 8.

We have a CUCM running version 7.1 and we currently have to dial 9 to get an outside line.  We have had many misdialings of 911 due to people fat fingering a number.  I want to change the number people use to access an outside line from the standard 9 and have them use 8 instead. I have changed all my route patterns to show 8 and made sure the Provide outside dial tone was checked.  When I dial 8, I don't get the outside dialtone until I dial the next number.  The call still goes through but I want the dialtone to happen after pressing 8.  Any assistance with this would be apprecaited.  Thanks.

Go to Call Routing menu > Routeplan Report find all numbers beginning with 8. You will see why the system can't provide dial tone by showing overlapping patterns.

Thanks for the guidance.  Found the issue and deleted the directory number.  Also discovered that unmanaged gateways/routers that have dial-patterns configured must also be changed.  Appreciate the help.

In addition to looking for dialing patterns that conflict, configuration changes also needed to be made on the router/gateway dial-patterns.  CM is handing them numbers and the router is looking for certain numbers.
