Free version of Battery Defender and previously used free version of 2x.  There is certainly more customization with defender ultimate or plus but I am getting about 45% more battery life with defender free

JuiceDefender free lets you have the most control over how aggressively you want to save your battery

FYI I previously used '2X battery' but found juice defender was better at extending battery life and has more customizable features.

I use balanced since I get a lot of emails for work that need timely responses but if you don't mind a delay in getting emails then try aggressive or custom.

Where you able to do this before using juice defender?  Being able to use the internet during a call is based on the type of wireless you are using.  What carrier/country are you using?

(Is that your question?)
