I basically need to create a website with similar functionality to this website...

http://mfwflash2.myfotowall.com/index_html.php

It's for a custom wall paper product. The user needs to select a wall size, then upload an image, resize it, have the resolution checked then place an order.

I'm not entirely sure where to start and have looked around for existing scripts with no joy.

I'm ok with Flash and PHP and so could use either (or both) of these platforms.

Does anyone know of any existing scripts/templates out there? or have any ideas of the best way to approach this?

Why not contact them and ask if you can become a reseller or license their technology?

Hi Ray,

It's not for me but for a client who already produces these products, they just need a website.

A reasonable business model might be something like this.

1. You license the use of the technology from myfotowall.com
2. You sub-license the technology to your client who needs a web site.

You might weigh the cost of licensing and the potential to relicense the technology versus the cost to develop a similar technology.  And I would investigate the extent of the intellectual property rights of UK Patent GB2413451B before I approached the company.  There may not be very much IP protection, meaning that there is little risk of infringement if you decided to develop a similar product .

The web site itself consists of two frames.  The bottom navigation frame is at http://mfwflash2.myfotowall.com/nav_html.php.  The main frame is at http://mfwflash2.myfotowall.com/new_mypage.php.  Both frames are heavily loaded with flash animation, as the name implies.  There is a contact link in the navigation frame.  The technology rights appear to be described as Website design and site framework © myfotowall LLP. All rights reserved. UK Patent GB2413451B. myfotowall is a trading name and registered trade mark of myfotowall LLP.

Thanks Ray,

Good idea, but I can't see Fotowall letting a competitor use their websites' functionality even for a cost. I think I may have to see if there's any flash designers out there to outsource to.

Everything has a price.  Have you asked them?  I would not reject the idea if you have not asked.  I cannot imagine a merchant who would not be eager to have as many reseller channels as possible, eh?

FWIW, there are numerous competitors in the USA.  Not all of them use Flash and frames.  Make a Google search for "photo wallpaper murals" and you will see dozens of competing services.  One good example, recommended by my interior decorator, is here:
