Hi,

I am migrating our company data to a new file server. The problem appear to be that when I re-name the local profile on the local machine to 'old' and try to login so that it creates the new profile object it just says, 'could not find local profile, using a temporary profile' It does this even after a re-boot. The client pc in running Windows 7 Ultimate.

Grateful for any advice.
Thanks

Also, if a new user who has not previously logged onto the pc does, then it creates the new profile no problem.

Renaming the profile folder as.old is not enough.

You have to rename a registry key as .old too.

Go to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

Find the one corresponding to the profil you want to delete, then rename it as .old or delete it.

Retry connecting the new session and you should be fine

Thanks, it did not work at first, but I noticed a corresponding GUID in the profile loader, so I deleted that as well and then it worked!

Cheers
