I have a MySQL database. I need to create a "report" in Excel format using php on the web server so it can be emailed to the customer. I know how to do it in csv but I need to incorporate things like cell font formatting, colors, etc.

Spreadsheet Excel Writer @http://pear.php.net/package/Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer is a good choice for creating excel file with only needs of formatting.

I used it years ago and pretty satisfied.
