Hi:

I have this table display with the data displayed from the database.  In the table there is 'Description' field which is a text area field which can take unlimited characters.  I want to display only 255 characters in the table display for the description field and at the end include a link 'read more...' and when you click on the link a new page must open with the remaining text.

Thanks in advance.

How about something along the lines of:

        echo '<td style="WORD-BREAK:BREAK-ALL">' . substr($row['description'],0,255).
             ( (strlen($row['description'])>255) ? ' <a href="http://url">read more&hellip;</a>' : '').
             '</td>';
