Windows 7 taskbar - restore/maximize application window does not have focus
When I open two programs and minimize one to the taskbar and click the taskbar button to restore/maximize the window, the application does not gain focus. It is open behind the other program window. I can alt/tab between windows, but cannot restore them from the taskbar. Any ideas?

Yes. This happens all the time. The only item customized on the start menu is the number of programs used often.
Tried SFC /SCANNOW. It did not find any integrity violations.
Not a newer issue so have not done a restore.

Let's wait a bit and see if others answer. It seems like too small an issue to say reinstall Windows, but I know it does not happen to me except for very rarely and seems to be dependent on some programs. .... Thinkpads_User

This user mainly uses Excel and Autocad 2012. I found another forum where a user said the VBA enabler was causing this issue. I removed the vba startup file and the minimized buttons on the taskbar work fine when switching between excel and autocad. I hope Autodesk is working on a fix for this.

Another thing to try is System File Checker. Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator. At the command prompt, enter SFC /SCANNOW and allow to compete. Restart. Does that change behaviour.
Then, if the issue is newer, go to Action Center -> Recovery and Restore to a Prior Point. This could help if the issue is recent. .... Thinkpads_User
