Good morning, folks.

This week I'm arranging my exchange mailbox. I took about 120 mailboxes, moved to a Mailstore, I use ExMerge backup and then immediately turned off the accounts.

This was my mailstore with 27 gig, even with no mailbox. Perform offline defragmentation to organize the data and clean the spaces and still continues with 27 gig. I do not want to delete this mailstore, for she has the User System Attendant.

Someone could help me understand better, as there is no mailbox in mailstore and yet it occupies a space of these.

What do you mean by turned off the accounts? Did you delete the mailboxes and you are trying to free up the space?

this is the retention policy the data you moved won't become white space unless the retention date is passed

it having the system attendant doesn't mean you can't delete the edb file, just dismount the database delete the edb and log files (not the folders) and mout it again a new edb file will be create and the system mailbox will not get disturbed in anyway

Remove from AD and delete mailbox.

Did you purge the mailboxes after deleting them?

Yes, i run cleanup agent in mailbox.

I moved the mailbox from one mailstore to another mailstore and then generate the pst and then delete the mailbox.

The policy of the retensão mailstore is 0. I do not understand why the file remains large even after defragmenting.

Can you explain why you are trying to defrag an empty db?

Wait till morning and check the event log after the garbage process ran, you will have an event log with the amount of white space, defrag after

The documentation says that you should run defrag after a large movement or deletion of mailbox.
