Use Google Analytics to Track Buyers Based on Referral Source

Analytics is setup and working on my site. I want to setup events (or some other tracking) so I can measure the number of buyers that come from my referral sources.

For example, if I get 80 clicks from www.othersite.net, how many of those "clickers" actually go on to buy something?

I think I can do this with custom variables and events, but having a little trouble wrapping my head around it.

How do I do this?

Have you enabled your site as an 'eCommerce' site in your settings?  

If so, you should be able to access that by clicking the 'eCommerce' tab on your Traffic Sources report.

Great!  Once you get that enabled, you will find this tab on your Inbound Traffic reports.  

Click on that and you'll be able to associate sales, transactions, etc to your traffic channels.

Also, you'll be able to use that tab on nearly all your other metrics to see how they relate to eCommerce transactions.

You CAN also set up goals, if you like, but IMHO, enabling eCommerce should do the trick.

That's exactly what I was after. Going to use this data to cross reference the stuff we have stacked in InfusionSoft, and it should give me some serious rocket science.
