thinclient vs zero client

Dear Experts:

Please help me the difference of thin client and zero client and where this will be useful as we are placed an order for the below:
1. Vmware essential plus
2. EMC storage
3. Server linux and windows

Our application requirement for the users are , office suite ( word processor, spread sheet and powerpoint) internet explorer for the internet , adobe reader, email client ms outlook

My organization went with zero clients because of the patching capability.  You only have to patch the gold image and recompose to all pools and you are done.  with the thin clients you have to patch the clients individually, and if the thin client is a windows based machine, it becomes not only redundant but a little tougher but i do remember when making the decision we decided that the zero clients made far more sense from a patching and management standpoint.
