After reading about EDB and STM, some articles say that EDB files are anything sent from MAPI client[Outlook] and STM from other clients.
Some articles say EDB stores  text messages and STM stores video ,audio.
If I understand from outlook[Mapi client] we can also send video, audio files.
Any Exchange expert to clear this confusion up.

Thanks

the first statement is the correct one,

EDB stores all email messages sent / receives by MAPI clients however when a client access an email using any other kind of client (pop3/imap) the email is "converted" to another format (extra headers etc...) and stored in the .stm file
