modify word template problems

Client would like me to modify a template that came with my Word Mac2011.  He wants the Bill To section moved over to the left about 1".  When I try to move it to the left it disappears letter by letter as I move to the left like there is some sort of "thing" ontop of it.  Any ideas how to modify this?  Here is a screen shot of what he wants.  I believe the template was called "Advantage"

It is part of a table. Perhaps you didn't realise that. It helps to show table gridlines.

Here it is with the column moved to the left

That looks great!  I turned on gridlines and see the outline with the crosshatch in upper left.  How did you move it?  I tried clicking on the crosshatch and I couldn't get it to budge.

Hover the mouse over the vertical border that you need to move. When the cursor changes to one that shows two vertical lines between two outward-facing arrows, you should be able to drag the border to the right or the left.
