changing user name and email address in W2k8 and Exchange 2010

no need to do all this, just open ADUC and right click on her user account and rename it, after you have done this open Exchange management shell and find her mailbox go to the properties -> email addresses your recipient policy should have updated the email too, if not you can just create a new alias and set it as reply address

I wil check it out. I did go into the Exchange Management Console and try add a new email address and was not able to click the "set as reply" button. It was greyed out Must be doingsomething wrong.

no just untick the check box down "APPLY DEFAULT POLICY"

ok in ADUC  changed the name, it opened window to let me update the login name to be her new firstintialnewlastname

I kept her old name as an alias in ADUC screen.

In Excahgne Management COncsole picked  her mailbox (it was new name) in it was were 2 SMTP email addesses. Her old name and new name. The old name was bolded and not new name. THe window states that each type can only have one default reply address. The choice to to "set as Reply" by highlighting one of the names is greyed and i cant get at it.  I may be misunderstadnint gthe alias issue.  I need her to still get emails at old address for now as well as new address but need the new one as her rpely address so people start top see it and use it.

in ADUC  under her new user accoutn adn name it showed on general tab, her old email address in the email address field on the gerneral tab.  I changed that to the new address and in Exchagne MC it still doesn't appear to have new address in bold as the reply address.  

you are almost there go back to the email addresses, in the bottom of the screen you ahve a checkbox something like automatically update .... uncheck it and set the one you want as reply

rats  I saw your other comment and unchecked the automnatically update3 email addresses based on email policy.  Is that what you meant  I didn't see a   "check box down "APPLY DEFAULT POLICY"

ah did it while you were responding.   NOw the question is. What really does it do to her without  

automnatically update3 email addresses based on email policy

and what does that really do for others?

Guess noo need to worry if it works.  Now to log in as her and send and recieve tests

I aasume her log in with new name with woek and will need to go back to ADUC and the netowrk to check on her user home folder etc.

one last thing. Email woirks great old address and new get delivered and replies from new address.

I changed her home folder in ADUC under her user profile by renaming the users\sdrake folder to uses\sbutler and then poting to it in the profile.

It appeastrs that on her work station the test docs i create get saved to her My Documents whihc then got to her new named user folder on the server like the should as it is   f:\users\sbutler  (new name) is the default target for  My Documents on the workstation whenlogged in as   sbutler now.

But it appears that ther is no  sbutler under documents and settings on the local  c  drive.   I beleive that whenever we have someone log into a workstation for first time it creates a user under the  C:\docuements and settings folder even though we have them all having their docs saved to their home folder on the network.  

Just not sure why the   old name    sdrake is still there  lcoaclly and also why no new name  sbutler localy.    SHould i just rename the lcoal folder or not worry about it?
