Exchange 2010 server and veritas backup 2010 r3

Hi,

I´ve a  2008 server with only exchange 2010  installed and veritas backup server 2010 r3.

I´d like to perform a good exchange backup to an usb disk  and ftp disk....

Two task:

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You will probably need to use another utility, but jest perform an dExchange backup, compressit and FTP it out  Server 2008 has an SFTP feature you can enable.  Here's a link to some ideas

http://www.formortals.com/microsofts-free-secure-ftp-server-for-windows-server-2008/

You can also probably create a script to automate the zipped anf FTP.  here's a link to 7 ZIP CLI

http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

be sure to use p7zip

You mean the backup job?  I don't think there's a way you can set up Backup Exec.  What you can do is creat the backup to disk folder, then set a script to run after the backup job that zips the folder to an archive then ftp's or SFTP's the archive using FPT CLI or a CLI based utility

Do you have a license for Exchange backups?  If that's the case then set up 2 backups.  One that is file level and system store, than another that is teh Exchange information store.  In the job properties you can set up a script to run before or after the job.  assign the script you create for zip anf FTP there.
