I'm installing an "alert" software package that requires "Relay" be turned on to send mail outside of our domain.  How do I do this?

Meaning: the alert software is an external application (to Domino) that runs in the internal network but wants to send SMTP mails through the Domino server?

Have a look at this page:
http://www-12.lotus.com/ldd/doc/domino_notes/rnext/help6_admin.nsf/2e73cbb2141acefa85256b8700688cea/b112da8a00ccd37785256c1d00395c50?OpenDocument
and then especially at the 3rd line in the table "Allow messages only from the following Internet hosts to be sent to external Internet domains".
