Hi, can you do a search in the registry under HKLM\Software\Adobe for a key called bUpdater ?

Ok, clear. I've been investigating the Adobe updater a bit and found that the Adobe application (I tested with the reader) is calling ReaderUpdater.exe which is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0" in my case. When choosing 1 of the 3 update options, it is calling this:

ReaderUpdater.exe /ArmPrefs /MODE:3 (for automatic updates)
ReaderUpdater.exe /ArmPrefs /MODE:2 (manual updates)
ReaderUpdater.exe /ArmPrefs /MODE:0 (no updates)

Then checking what the ReaderUpdate process is doing, it is modifying this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM\iCheck

iCheck is set to 3, 2 or 0 respectively.

Can you try changing the iCheck key? You may have to close your Adobe X, change iCheck and start Adobe X again.
