Would really appreciate anyone's thoughts on what we experienced today on a customers server. Server is windows 2003 64bit SP2 standard running Exchange Standard 2007 SP1 with GFI Mail essentials v14.
Today we had a user call to say 14,000 emails were missing in their GFI inbox (which is just an exchange mailbox with GFI set to archive all incoming mail to) not a great setup but always worked well this way. The end user opens it within their own exchange mailbox in online mode.
I've checked OWA which does show this once massive mailbox pretty much almost all gone.
And checked the user hasn't deleted them by trying to recover their deleted items but it's not there and as if ia bulk load of emails just vanished into no where! Also this is the same for the GFI outbox which is setup in the same manner and used in the same way. Also just missing a bulk load of emails from the past couple of years. Had this happen to a different customer as well a while back who weren't even using GFI?? just ramdom emails in the inbox gone and not in deleted items.
Would really appreciate any advice on this and no idea how to explain whats occured.
Event logs don't even show anything out of the blue???
