Why won't my Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 work anymore?  Stuck at Pre-Processing

backup just gets stuck at pre-processing state
Notable data being backed up = Lotus Notes mail files, Windows 2000 Server files, and typical user data.

There is a registry fix to enable offline file backup but i did not see that entry in mine.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated

Thanks

Well, Backup Exec 8.6 is over 10 years old. There is any number of possibilities from an update from Windows or Lotus Notes that made some change that has caused this problem. Are you using the AOFO? That can cause a problem, particularly if you don't have enough disk space. There is a temp file called _BEVspCachefile_0.tmp. I have had these not delete and cause disk space issues. It is usually located at the root of the C: drive.

Shortly after I posted this, it started to go again.  Not sure what exactly happened...as all I did was stop and restart the backup exec services.  Maybe that fixed it.  Thanks for the help anyways !

Cheers

Well, if  you are using AOFO, keep in mind what I posted above. That can cause you a problem.
