Crucial m4 SSD firmware update

Hey guys,

so I've got an SSD in my computer from Crucial. It's the Crucial M4 128GB.
Now I've seen that they just released a firmware update, which seems promising, it should increase overall system performance.

But there is something that's holding me back.
I've never flashed firmware before, and specially because the SSD is my main volume I'm kind of scared to do it.

But the main reason, I don't even know how to.
If I update the firmware, will it also be formatted and will my Windows be gone?

Updating firmware should not wipe out your drive, but the manufacturers always recommend making a backup before doing so, just in case, to cover any odd outcome.
