is Alienware Power supply proprietary? Can it be replaced with a regular ATX power supply on a desktop?

Power supplies are unique on their voltage and the kind/number of ports they have. The Alienware power supplies are not Alienware brand. At least I don't think so. Remember Alienware is owned by Dell who just used 3rd party hardware as do most companies. So yes it could be replaced but they are smart about offering the "proper" power supplies to power either your SLi or Crossfire graphics card along with a high end processor and such. What would you want to replace it with?
