OWA documents blank after Exchange SP3 upgrade

I recently upgraded exchange to SP3 everything seemed to go well. Then I took a vacation (I know, bad idea) I got back today and was checking some docs stored on the server that are "read-only" accessible through owa. All I get when I try to view them is a blank white screen. I researched and found this symptom on the FIRST SP3 upgrade ( months ago) and it related to a version mismatch between the Exchange OS and the clients outlook express. Didn't seem like an easy fix- or one that wouldn't have been addressed by microsoft since then.
So I'm asking if anyone has seen this and if there might be an easy fix for this problem. Indeed, it might be something different than the old problem I found.
Problem: documents viewed through documents section on owa are blank.
