Avocent Autoview 3008 KVM compatibility with HP's Proliant dongles

Hi, I bought 3 Proliant servers that came with HP's USB kvm dongle (interface adapter)

HP's kvm dongle has this part no: 336047-B21

specs here: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF06c/A1-329290-330243-3177117-3177117-435643-377917.html

I connected my 3x proliant servers to the avocent, and it can not detect them (even tried rebooting the servers). So I called up Avocent and they told me their Autoview 3008 KVM only works with their own dongles (Avocent DSRIQ-USB) that look identical to the HP ones.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but I have iLo enabled on my proliant servers.

Any ideas? should I just order the avocent ones?

Thanks

Avocent makes the KVM equipment for HP, Dell, and others.  The dongles are the same hardware, however they do not work across vendor models.  If you have an Avocent KVM, you need Avocent dongles.  The HP dongles will only work with HP branded KVM's.  It's annoying that the dongles are locked down like that, but that's how it is.

Anyone knows if I can connect the AVOCENT AVRIQ-USB dongle to a Dell PRecision Linux workstation that only has  two dvi video outputs instead of VGA?

I tried with an adaptor from DVI to VGI but it didn't work.

Maybe it needs a linux driver for the USB cable?

I can see that the device is connected in the Autoview OSCAR menu, but no video, just the device name.
Running CentOS5. Thanks!
