Server TS2k3 - Outlook and Instant Search - Not finding contacts in public folders = verified contacts are there

Hi all,

Hope someone can help with this frustrating issue... Installed a TS Server for a client. Each client had a workstation in a office that closed. Now all clients work remotely on this ts box. Instant search works when they are on their computers, but not on the TS box.

Details:
In Outlook 2007 (tried 2010 too)
Contacts
Top corner - search - type in a contact that is in the list and the search pulls it up

When I click on the primary contact folder for the company (Public Contacts), it fails everytime. I can see contact John Smith, but when I search for John Smith, I get
"Instant search encountered a problem while trying to display search results. Modifying your query may resolve this problem".

I have reindexed, rebooted, uninstalled, tried 2010 Office, etc. What can I try? It's almost like Instant Search isn't linked to the public folders...

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

What is the exchange server version? if its exchange 2010/2007 check the databae copy status for content indexing, if its failed status, then that will be the issue for only outlook search and sometimes owa search also
Check the exchange server for any events generated for the same

Regards,
Krishna

Thanks for the reply.

Exchange - SBS2k3
Checked logs on Exchange - not seeing any silver bullets. There are a couple of different events for Windows Search, but they are spread out over days and are related to not being able to update a temp file.

Thanks
