Samsung SCX4826fn and Network printing
Hi All,
I have a Samsung SCX4826fn printer which is connected to the printer. At our office across town I have been able to add a network printer via TCPIP port 631 (which is a feature in the printer) on a Windows XP machine using just text authentication. However on the Win 7 machine in the same office when I try to use text authentication it doesn't work.
Has anyone else run into the issue?
Thanks - Zack

Port 631 is used by IPP printing. For network printing, Windows normally uses ports 9100 (raw) or 515 (LPR). Does it print if you use port 9100? Just select Raw in printer Properties > Ports > Configure Port.

I tried enabling port 9100 and it did work except if I leave that open anyone can print to it inclluding unauthenticated ppl.
