Spooler subystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close is encountered on HP LaserJet 1022 printer on XP machine

More that likely the spooler is crashing due to a PDF document.
Restart the spooler - either via services or through command line : net start spooler
Delete the job in the print spooler.
This printer has issues with certain PDF documents, so I would advise against printing them to this printer.
This is a known issue with HP 1020 series printers.

I just removed the printer and then reinstalled it. It works.
