Windows xp pro sp2 - black screen
Hello experts
I have a problem with my laptop .Instead of my start page i get a black screen with only the mouse on it.
The problem appearss after clicking on the startbutton (from stand by with a closed screen). I got the screen without problems for a few seconds and than a blue screen.
I tried to start in save mode. i got a black screen with the save mode message on the four corners and the mouse on it.
that 's all. i hope somebody can help to fix it without reinstalling the OS.

almost this ram issue change swap ram with a knewn good one and check

take one and test if problem persist remove it and put the other

I tested both separate.
The machine did not boot at all.
After that i put both again to see if it will boot and unfortunately it is not starting any more

discconnect the power cable and remove battery then remove rams and install them again

the machine is booting now but i get a blue screen during windows loading and a direct restart

ok it seems that both you ram is bad shutdown your laptop remove power cable remove battery
then remove rams and test with a knewn good one

shbasm .The ubuntu boot cd has a memory test tool (Memtest 86 v2.11). I will test both rams separate.
It is 22.47 local time. I can't find a ram now.

I'm trying to use the recovery console.
I have one drive that is splited in C (programm files....windows) and D.
Now using the r command (for recovery) i get a C drive. Typing the command dir i get the files from the D (that what i thought it was D).
now typing C:\>cd D:\ i got a message that this folder is not valid

I made somewhere a mistake and my system drive has many damaged files.
unfortunately i must now format and reinstall the OS.
