I am looking for an online source for a service manual for an Acer Extensa EX4420-5808 laptop.  Specifically, I am trying to determine with certainty whether the port for the AC adapter is integrated into the motherboard or is an FRU.  Any help locating the service manual will be very gratefully received.

Thanks!

Wild_Tech:

Thanks, but the links you provided are for the User's Manual.  I need the Service Manual -- not the same thing at all.

it is integrated into the motherboard. all you had to do was find out what model the motherboard is then you could use google to find a picture of it and get the answer yourself or you could just take it apart and find the answer. I realized that a user manual and a service manual are not the same thing. Just remember that people are trying to help you on this site so there is no reason to be condescending to them in your post. so next time you don't know the answer and you don't feel like doing the research just call tech support.

Wow, Wild_Tech -- Get up on  the wrong side of the bed this evening?  I AM trying to do my own research, by trying to track down the Service Manual -- and yes, I searched the Acer site and the Web before posting my question here. You assumed I hadn't done any independent research before turning to Experts Echange. So, who was being condescending? You're the one who posted links to the User's Manual when I asked for the Service Manual.  How was I to know you actually knew the difference?  More imortantly, do you always flame the people asking for your help before you give them your "real" response?  Why not do them a real favor, instead --- just don't reply at all.

Thanks for the link -- that may come in very handy.  I'd still want to have the service manual before I proceed. Any ideas on where I can find it online?

Thanks!

Give your grad a cloud of their own!

With up to 8TB of storage, give your favorite graduate their own personal cloud to centralize all their photos, videos and music in one safe place. They can save, sync and share all their stuff, and automatic photo backup helps free up space on their smartphone and tablet.

Hi, again, nobus & RobMobility!  Thanks for trying, but neither of those sites has the service manual for the Extensa 4400 series. Wow! I've never had such a hard time finding a service manual before.

I'll keep hunting and I hope you will, too.

Thanks again!

Hi,

You may find the board also present in an Aspire such as the 5315 series which is very similar technical specification?

Regards,

RobMobility.

There are a large number of Acer service manuals available for download here:

http://www.azbooki.ru/literatura.php?name=instrukcii-po-razborke-noutbukov-acer.txt

The site is in Russian, but the manuals are in English!!!

The company supplying the replacement jack/port for the AC power cord confirmed that installation of the replacement jack requires soldering, which certainly definitively confirms that the jack is integrated into the motherboard.

I still need the service manual, but I guess I will have to try other avenues to track it down.
