Excel 2010 unable to sort a column

I have an Excel spreadsheet that has been created by someone else.  I have a number column (created from formula) which has both negative and positive numbers in that  am trying to sort but nothing happens when i try.  Could there be some lock on it?  If so, what?

I have created a copy of the list as number only which will allow me to sort but it will not allow me to expand selection so that I can use it to sort the database.

Any ideas on how to get around this?

Can you provide an example of the spreadsheet or at least show the formula in question?  I cannot replicate this issue.

Can you sort on any other column in the data set?

ASKER

=$T5-$AH5
=$T6-$AH6
=$T7-$AH7
all the way down to
=$T32-$AH32

I can only sort on columns that do not contain a formula.
