Are you trying to use the USB? Use an ethernet cable instead. Only thing you would need to worry about is making sure your computer is set up to dynamically obtain an ip address from the ISP. <br />

Additionally, I don't recommend connecting a pc directly to the internet even with a software firewall. I would put it behind a router/firewall device with Natting enabled.
