When a user goes to resolve an address in Outlook 2007

Method of testing the hotfix
Problem: When a user goes to resolve an address in Outlook 2007, if the display name field contains special characters the name will not resolve.
Microsoft have provided a hotfix 415068_intl_x64_zip.exe

1) In the STL lab we created two new user accounts
mailbox = ~Non(standard & mailbox)
contact = ~ (non & standard)
We waited a few minutes and then opened Outlook, created a new message and added the two new addresses
The mailbox address does not resolve, and as a result a check-makes pop up window opens say that the address does not exist.

The the hotfix was installed on the STL DC's
test-dc-01

The test was re-run
This time the address ~Non(standard & mailbox) in the To field does resolve and is underlined.

Are you indicating that on some Outlook clients the patch worked and the other Outlook clients it did not?  In this case, most likely Outlook processes never closed and were still running when the patch was installed.  If the client computer has a mobile device, the syncronization tool for that device may hold Outlook processes open.  Consider rebooting and installing the patch again.
