Good morning World05,

If you have a data plan on your handset together with your BlackBerry service plan, you can do all of this over the air. First, use your PC to visit www.blackberry.com/id to create a BlackBerry ID (if you have not done so already). Next, from the handset browser, go to www.blackberry.com/appworld/download to download the AppWorld application (if it is not already installed).

Once you have done this, you can start the AppWorld app from the handset, browse, search and select applications to install and then confirm using the BlackBerry ID.

If this isn't working for you, please let me know.

Regards,

Mike

Hi World05,

That sounds more like a problem with the software on the web browser on your computer rather than a problem with the handset. I suspect that there is an ActiveX control that allows the web site to send information to a locally connected handset. If the ActiveX control is unable to run correctly (usually due to Zone Security settings in the browser or by using a browser other than Internet Explorer) then the installation will fail.

Why not use Desktop Manager and the Applications function to add Maps to the handset? I believe it is bundled as standard with most versions of the handheld software. It would be more straightforward for you.

Regards,

Mike

Hi i used wifi to access the internet just to install bb world app it is installed but when i tried to open it it says no data plan available why???

Mike SullivanDirectorCommented:
App world needs a data plan from your mobile provider. The regular BB plan won't cover it. Contact your mobile service provider to have this corrected.

So it will not work with wifi? Is there a way to install apps out of bb world app

Mike SullivanDirectorCommented:
To install the apps outside of BB World, you will need to download the .jad files to a PC and install them the Desktop Manager. Not all apps will offer this as an option.
