Hello,

I've SQL Server 2005 and I want to move online data to reporting database server on daily basis.

So, I want to use Integration Services option i.e.
> I'll export data into flat files from online database through SQL Server Agent
> Then I'll place those flat files on FTP server
> Then same kind .dtsx package will be created on reporting database server.
> On this, first, flat files will be downloaded from FTP server
> Then it will be imported on reporting database server.

The question is that....
What is the requirement (Software/Network) for SSIS implmentation, advantages and disadvantages also?

Thank you for those links. But I wanted to concentrate integration services instead of high availability tools in this thread.

Do you have your great ideas on integration services?

Advantages of SSIS are that you can do all your requirements (listed in the question) from SSIS and do them efficiently, with logging.

SSIS can create flat files, read flat files, import those files.  Not to mention it also has FTP controls, which, from your package, will allow you to schedule FTP calls automatically.

Disadvantages?  Maybe having to learn another product.  But well worth it in my opinion.
