Allow anonymous access to a particular folder in a ASP.NET application

I have a ASP.NET web application that makes use of Windows Authentication.  However, I have a particular folder that I need for anyone to be able to call ( anonymous )  The application is running on Windows 2008 Server.  I have Set the authentication  of the folder were the web service resides to anonymous, yet I still get prompted for my windows credentials.  If I hit cancel ( not providing anything ) the web service still works as expected.  I need for a linux system to be able to access the web service.

Try adding a separate web.config inside your anonymous folder and add the below:
<configuration>
   <system.web>
      <authorization>
        <allow users="*"/> //Allow everyone
      </authorization>
   </system.web>
</configuration>

And if you don't want to create separate web.config, another option would be to set the "location" tag for your anonymous folder. This should help: http://weblogs.asp.net/gurusarkar/archive/2008/09/29/setting-authorization-rules-for-a-particular-page-or-folder-in-web-config.aspx
