I have a server running server 2003 R2. It holds my shared folder for my company. I want to find files that have a specific word in them. Not just the name of the file but the content also.
Most docs are word, excel and pdf. Any software or native way to do it?

any ideas?

While at the desktop, right-click on the hard-drive icon (most likely named My Computer) and select Search from the pop-up menu.  When the search panel opens, select the 'All files and folders' option.  This opens a 'Search by' sub-panel.  Type into the field 'A word or phrase in the file:' the text you want to search for.  Click Search.

You can also limit the search to only certain file types by entering parameters into the 'All or part of the file name' field such as *.doc*, *.xls* to search only in documents or spreadsheets.

Best wishes!

Quick Search and Replace is free and allows text, phrase, and regular expressions.
