Windows Search Network Drive - Index content

Hello,
I'm looking for a program which is available which users at my company can connect to  search for files and content within the files. Similar to Google but for network files. I'd want it to be http based, so they can use their internet browser. I know google has appliances for this, but I'm looking for something free. Any ideas. I've tried Windows Search Server but I havent' been able to get it working yet. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advanced.
