Sent Mail Disappeared

Hello,

Some of our HR Director's sent items disappeared this morning. He reported the problem and I went to watch.

I sent myself a test item. The item appeared in the Sent folder and in my inbox. About 30 seconds later, the item simply vanished out of the Sent folder (it remained in my inbox). It was a bit disconcerting.

A restart seems to have fixed the problem (without restoring vanished items) but he's a bit concerned that the problem may occur again without him knowing. Because I have no idea what caused the problem, I have to agree with him.

Any ideas?

Try turning off filters and or rules first

View\Current view\customize current view.

Tools\ rules

Also see if you can open webmail or his profile elsewhere and get the same results

I reset the current view and I have checked the webmail. They are not present. There are no active rules re: Sent Items.

From webmail, do you see new messages?
Are they running cached mode?
If so turn off cached mode to see if the prolem persists.
If so delete OST file and let outlook rebuild

We are experiecing the same issues  and what was suggested does not resolve our issue.
the user does not have filters or rules applied to sent.
we've rebuilt the profile on many occassions and issue still persist.
when logged into OWA - it happens there as well(messages deleted from sent mail).

the view is default and hasn't been changed.
we even had the user try a different machine, and same thing.

user will reset pwd shortly--maybe that will work?
