VPN on cisco 2911

Hi
I have cisco 2911 ver 15.0(1)M3, IOS based.  I want to install sdm on my laptop will it also install sdm on my router?  If yes how can I find out if its the latest version.  I just downloaded ver25 from the cisco website, how and where on the router I would find the version of this.  I have no idea if its installed on the router or not.  How can I check.
Also I need step guide to install VPN on this router.
Help plz

you can install SDM on your workstation OR the router.  the install for the router is usually a different download.  Most people are using CCP now (Cisco configuration professional.)  It may provide an easier interface to set things up with.  Your router should also come with a web interface.  if not please type the following commands

Router# configure terminal
Router(config)# ip http server
Router(config)# ip http secure-server
Router(config)# ip http authentication local
Router(config)# ip http timeout-policy idle 600 life 86400 requests 10000

What type of VPN are you implementing?  site-to-site, PPTP, or SSL?

I would like to install SDM (new name CCP) on my laptop.  Yes true my router came with http server, and then I disabled it.  Good that you mentioned the commands to re enable it.
Please suggest which type of VPN:  I want my clients (windows 7 machines) to establish VPN connection from their laptops.  May be I have to download VPN client to the laptops from cisco?  I would like my clients to be authenticated via AD.  I am running server 2008 ent edition x32 bit network.  I am really keen to see the interface on this router 2911 VPN and how it works.  Will SSL? type work for me?  What are easy steps/commands to make this VPN on 2911?

SSL will work very well, you will just have to change the http/https port you connect to, to manage your router.  (ip http server "portnumber")  You will need to do this for CCP.  (I think)

SSL Vpn's are becoming very popular because it's a web portal AND a VPN with a client.  You can limit certain users to just a web portal with specific shared oflders and weblins, and allow other employees to download a client.

here's a link on how to set up the SSL VPN

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6496/products_configuration_example09186a0080720346.shtml

what like to do with this is allow users to download the any connect client from the web portal.  This way everything is automatic.

here's a link on how to integrate your VPN with AD.  (Well the link has links to a bunch of options for integrating)
