I'm trying to learn the various technologies involved in J2EE and I was just wondering what the most popular revision control software in the industry is? If there isn't a single one what do you see as being used the most and which one is fairly uncommon?

Not sure about what is uncommon, but I have used VSS, SVN and CVS in my projects.
VSS and CVS is not free but SVN is and it the most common of them.

You can use eclipse plugin for SVN and CVS of them to integrate with your development.
