headphone not working in dell inspiron

the configuration has been changed suddenly that even when i connect the headphone(with Mic) in the particular slot given in the laptop i dint hear anything in d headphone and still it uses the laptop speakers  i tried the best to change setting but dint work anything how can i change it to default like before i.e after connecting head phone  it should hear only on the headphone and speak with mic .

Using dell inspiron , Windows 7

Disconnect the headphone ...close all apps and then run this fixit.

Reboot and check.

That definitely makes it sound like a driver error. I suggest you try removing the drivers and letting Windows 7 install its own anyway.

Is there any other communication device connected to this computer....i hope u have disconnected the headphone before running the fixit.

hi , yes i removed that headset after only i run dat ..

LAst time i chose second option it gave me the result as  d image of earlier post .

whether its right ?

select the first option....click next and then reboot the computer.

Click cancel

Try new user account...reboot the computer...login under the new account and connect your headphone and check.


User account might be corrupted.

If possible open sounds from control panel-playback tab ..post the screenshot of playback tab with the mic connected to the computer.

while testing like below i hear d sound specifically on the head phone , but if i play songs or music using web or media player i dint hear anything .

Right click on the communication headphones and set it as default device.

Then play music and check.

I had changed somedays back like below

IN idt hd sound panel
 -->Recording - > Input Monitor to communication headphones
so it was not working ..

Now i changed it to speaker/headphones it all works pretty well
