How do I activate 3ds max?

I downloaded a student version of 3ds max 2012 from autodesk. Its good for 3 years but i have 30 days to activate it.  Every time i try to activate it, it tells me i have no internet connection. Well i indeed have an internet connection so i cant understand why this is happening.

If you downloaded a product before August 19, 2010, you can request a new serial number for the three-year license. You will then need to update your product registration and activation.

You have to contact Autodesk.
