Hi,

I have kit that is marking traffic as 0XB8, I have set the switch to give high priority to DSCP 101110. Is this all I have to do in order to prioritse this traffic? I was confused as whether to choose IP presedence or differential services under "type of service" menu. I am only running the default VLAN. Do I need to do anything with regards to this also? Thanks

DSCP is what you want to go with, but where is your policy(s) enforced?

Good question! I've no idea! How do I tell? I presumed by setting it up, it would apply to all traffic.

It could apply to all traffic, but at what point of your network will it be enforced. This is usually at the gateway of your network, i.e. router, vlan interface, etc.

Sorry, I want it to be enforced on this network switch. The unit is plugged directly into this switch. This switch acts as the gateway.

Oh, okay, it that is the case, then you should be set.   It will prioritize your traffic in between it's four queues.

Here is a doc to help you out too:

Thanks, do I have to set anything on the VLAN priority (as attached)?

Or does this override any other settings do you know? Capture

I believe that would be effective if there were several vlans, but with one vlan, I don't see vlan priority really having any affect.

Thanks, how would I tell if the QoS is being applied or not? (aside from not hearing glitching audio)
