Sharepoints companyweb webpage isn't working. Logging on as any user comes up with an "unexpected error occurred" or a 404 error.

I've checked services on server and all running. Restarted Sharepoint ones and still not working. Not sure where else to check. Bit of a beginner with it.

We are running SBS 2008 and WSS3.0.

Did you perform a recent update?  There are many things that can go amiss with Sharepoint on SBS

Open an elevated command prompt (right click on  Command and choose run as administrator) and then run C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\12\BIN\psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force

I did a bit of googling yesterday and found it was a problem with an MS update. I've sort of fixed it. I ran the command above, but this didn't work. I then ran the Sharepoint Products and Technologies software and it went through and seemed to fix it.

The problem now is that the sharepoint database is a brand new version. Could anyone let me know how I restore the old database? Also companyweb doesn't work anymore, it seems to use a different port and address.

Found out I had to create a new site and manually add the content database back into the site.
