Windows 7 offline files

I have a user on Windows 7 Pro that's running into issues when he works off our network. I'm guessing it's a syncronization problem but when he works offline at points his icons on his desktop grey out and do not work.

His folder is redirected when on the network but it should still work when he goes offline.

Has anyone dealt with this and how did you fix it?

If you go to the Synch Center and complete a synch, do they appear?

Offline Files has had issues for years now. Could be that his CSC is corrupted, and reinitializing it might resolve it. But don't do it remotely, and ONLY if the files are in synch (no conflicts)....

Resyncing doesn't fix the problem but removing the machine from active directory and reattaching it fixed the issue.
