how to create a "catch page" web site in iis7

I must install a catch page website on a customer's server.  By "catch page", I mean a .net app that receives xml streams from outside the server and stores the appropriate data to a db.  The app basically consists of one .aspx page and a dll.

So I have to figure how to set up the iis7 (windows server 2008) to direct the stream coming in to the aspx page appropriately.  This seems simple, but my attempts to create a website and application in iis continues to fail.  Lately, I get an http500 error when browsing.

This is not an area of which I know much.  So any help is appreciated.

You mean you want simple asp.net application to be deployed correctly in IIS?

If you are looking for processing some other extension create HTTPHandler and use in your application.

The big problem I had was that IIS7 was not "fully installed".  Being new to IIS7, I did not realize that it is modularized, so that important functionality must be individually installed.  The server provided by the customer had just the bare minimum of IIS7 available.  Good to learn, though bad to waste time....

And though the catch page is working fine now and without HTTPHandler, thanks for the tip.  HTTPHandler would be the better way to go, and I hope to have time in the future to "upgrade" to it.

Thanks for your help.
