Hi There.

I have recentley implement WDS on server 2008 machine in our domain. and have successfully installed some custom windows 7 images, I am however having trouble with a few little settings that I am hoping you guys can assist with.

1. Because WDS is setup in a domain environment, it automatically joins the pc's to the domain, I do NOT want it to do this, as we are setting up custom windows 7 images for pc's that are not part of our domain. Is there any easy way to do this? and if so what is the process.

will post other issues as they arise.

WDS supports by default domain environment installations, so new clients are automatically joint to the domain. There is no option to install clients without joining them to the domain, sorry :(

One thought :) I've never done this before by myself but you can test this scenario :)

1) Create a regular user account in a domain i.e. wds-install
2) Joint 10 workstation to the domain on this account.
3) After that, try to add one more (11th shouldn't be possible becuse by default regulat=r user can add up to 10 workstations to the domain).
4) Now, try to install new machine from WDS using this account (wds-install)
5) System should be installed but machine shoouldn't be added into domain

Please test this scenario.

Regards,
Krzysztof

Within the WDS server options there is an option to uncheck 'join computers to the domain'.

The 10 domain joins with a standard account didnt work, it just stops accepting the account :-?

I have enable the unknown devices to not be joined to domain which I found in another link and strangely enough for some of the pc's it works and others it does not....
