I have a user that is missing the icons on his desktop after logging on for the first time in the morning .  He then logs off and logs back on and everything appears as normal.  The files are still there as I can navigate to them through explorer.  It appears that it is the files that are not appearing but shortcuts remain.  This started occurring about a week ago.  It also appears that none of his start up programs are starting.  Any ideas on what would cause this?

Whats the USERPROFILE value? Is it c:\users\TEMP, or something different?

Disregard the title of that URL, but look in the registry where it is specifying, and see if you have the renamed profile key....

I believe you are correct.  There is a TEMP user on the computer.  It definitely looked like a temp user.  I will delve deeper in to this.  I will probably just build a new profile.  Thank you
