I am trying to create a view from Opportunities and Opportunity products associated as Line Items with the Opportunity.

From the Opportunity,I want to show the customer, the owner of the opportunity, the probability, the estimated amount

From the Opportunity Products (added as Line Items to an Opportunity when it is created), I want to show Product ID and Product Name.

I have tried modifying the views (Active Opportunities), creating relationships between the two entities (Opportunity and Opportunity Product), using Advanced Find and modifying the Advanced Find view in Opportunity entity.

This is the online version of CRM 2011 so it looks like I cannot use SQL Server Mgmt Studio to view the two tables and find the fields I need.

So if someone can tell me how to link Opportunity and the Opportunity Products Line Items so I can have create a View of this combined information, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks for your help.

I think you can do this without creating any new relationships. The trick is to base the Advanced Find on Opportunity Products. Then use Edit columns to add the required columns:

In Record type:
select Existing Product (Product). This gives you the Product ID
select Opportunity (Opportunity). This gives you the Estimated Revenue and Probability

Remember that Advanced Find can only return a list of records of one type but it can display fields from records immediately related to that type. For anything more complex you will need to write a report.

that works great - is there a way I can display this as a view under Sales > Opportunities or as a view available from my Opportunities dashboard view selector?

Not sure where I can call it from?  Products?

Thanks

I think not. Only views based on opportunities will shown under Sales | Opportunities.

You can create a system chart for opportunity products and then add that chart to a dashboard.
