Just would like to know if it is possible to have just one DNS aliases referencing to 4 different servers? What we would like to archieve with this is that users would need to know only one name to connect to the web server and then they will be able to access files from the server that is the nearest to them.

Thanks for any assistance/hints.

Yes, you can have multiple A records pointing to different IP's.

You will need to setup anycast for that.
