Exchange2003/2010 SMTP gateway

in an environment where there is exchange2003/exchange 2010 co-existance, how should an administrator configure incoming emails to be forwarded either to exchange 2003 or to exchange 2010?

thanks

When you install exchange 2010 in a 2003 environment you will have the option of making a bridge connection between the two. It will make this connection for you automatically after you point to the old exchange server during the install.

you change the port-forwarding for 25/80/443 from Ex03 IP to Ex2010 IP.
What migration guide are you using ?

As dsvoda said, during Ex2010 installation you add Ex03 as legacy server and Ex03-Ex2010 connectors are created during installation.

on the SMTP gateway server, there is no exchange installation required, but  you should forward the connections to  either to CAS or FE for  users that connect to their mailboxes through OWA or POP. how does the smtp server know if the request should go to CAS or FE.

I believe when sending email from outside it shoudln't be an issue since from SMTP gateway you forward the connections to Hub transport server.
