I have several clients asking me if there is a way to go to the inbox after you delete a message instead of opening up the next email? This is on an iPhone4.

no but if the client knows it's going to be deleted (example SPAM), you can swipe across the email while in the inbox and select delete.  If there is more than one, you can tap Edit, and tap each one to delete, then tap the delete icon at the bottom.
